Happy Veteran's Day!!

Kindergarten was so lucky today to get the chance to talk to a real veteran!!  My friend, Mr. Rhyan, came today to give the kids a chance to ask him some questions about the military, and speak to them about being a soldier.  They were so excited, and asked some really great questions!!  Thanks Rhyan!!

Silly Kindergarten!!

The past few weeks have been super busy in Kindergarten, so we got to have a silly day today!!  We read a story about a beaver who ate his stick house, and wrote silly sentences about living in a house made of food.  The pictures turned out super cute, and we did a great job as writers by sounding out our words.  Then we made our very own beaver out of shapes!!  Kindergarten is so silly!!

We discovered that we were watch twins!!

Our trip to the farm...

What a fun day we had out at the farm!!  We were able to pet a bison, a zebra, some horses, and a big, fat pig!!  Some of us also had a chance to milk a real live cow!!  There was so much to see and do.  We took a hayride, and even got to take home our very own pumpkins!!  KINDERGARTEN LOVES THE FARM!!

And more pictures to come from the AWESOME parents that came to help!!

Football Reader!!

We are so excited to have a Panther football player come every Friday and read to our class!!  The kids love to visit with and listen to the players as they read us a story and answer any questions that we may have about football and "the big high school".  This is such a great program that the coaching staff has put together, and the kids really enjoy it!!  Go Panthers!!

Daily Five!!

This year we have started using the Daily 5 reading and language arts program in our Kindergarten classroom.  I have been so thrilled with how we are doing.  Daily 5 consists of 5 reading/writing choices that the kids get to choose.  They may go to Read-To-Self, Work-On-Writing, Read-To-Someone, Working-With-Words, and Listen-To-Reading.  While the students are working in the area of their choice, that frees me us to work with small reading and writing groups.  So far we have had a lot of fun, and I have already seen some improvements in the some of the writing.  Way to go Kindergarten!!
